One Week in Uttarakhand: The Perfect Long Weekend Itinerary for October

1. From Dehradun to Mussoorie: 


If you are coming to Dehradun via train then you can take a bus from Dehradun railway station towards mussoorie but i would recommend you to take a bike on rent from which you can enjoy various breathtaking glimpses of hills and nature. When you will reach mussoorie then you will realize why it is called the “Queen of hills”. In Mussoorie you can visit many beautiful destinations like Mall road, Kempty fall, Cloud end, George Everest, Dalai Hills, Lal Tibba, Chaar dukaan, Gun Hill point etc. 


2. Mussoorie to Bhadraj Temple:

To visit Bhadraj temple you can start trek from mussoorie cloud end from there you can trek or you can also reach there from your own vehicle. The trek is about 13.3 kms long so if you are a fitness freak then this trek is definitely worth going for you. Bhadraj temple is situated at the hilltop of approximately 2,215 meters (7,267 feet) above sea level and it is also a part of Badrinath Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Bal Bhadra (also known as Balram), brother of Sri Krishna. After reaching the temple you can feel the calm and peaceful atmosphere around the temple and you will feel mesmerized by the view of this place.


3. Bhadraj to Dhanaulti:

After spending a nice day in trekking bhadraj temple you can move towards dhanaulti which is 28.2 km from bhadraj. Dhanaulti is a tourist attraction because of its famous temples and adventure parks .In dhanaulti you can visit the famous surkanda devi temple. Surkanda Devi Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth and sits  at an altitude of 2,700 meters, the temple offers a panoramic view of the landscapes and the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. After praying in surkanda devi temple you can move towards Dhanaulti adventure park where you can do many activities like SKY WALK ,SKY BRIDGE ,Valley Crossing,Zip Swing, Zip Line, Rock climbing, Paragliding and many more. You can also visit other tourist destinations in dhanaulti like Eco park , Deogarh fort , Apple orchid resort  and Kanatal adventure camp.


4. Dhanaulti to Tehri Dam:

Adventure sports are amazing but so are water sports.Now it’s time to visit the highest dam of India (Tehri dam).It is a 3 hour long drive from dhanaulti but it’s worth visiting .Tehri Dam is 260.5 meter high and 592 meter long.It is the tallest dam in India situated on Bhagirathi river and the 13th-tallest dam in the world.Tehri dam is also famous for water sports like Jet skiing, Banana ride , Speed boat , Kayaking, etc .It is a great spot you can go to for a picnic or a vacation.

You can also visit Dobra-Chanti  bridge, the architectural wonder located in the tehri garhwal district .The 440-meter long Dobra Chanti bridge is India’s longest motorable single lane suspension bridge.

You can also visit this hidden gem called the Budha Kedar which is a religious place dedicated to lord Shiva .The shivling in this place is said to be the biggest shivling in North India.

5. Tehri Lake to Rishikesh:

So after having so much fun in the Devbhoomi we need  to relax our mind and soul by visiting the “Yoga capital of the world” known as Rishikesh. Rishikesh is the hub of yoga where people from other countries visit to acquire knowledge about the different forms and techniques of yoga . There are various ashrams in Rishikesh where you can plan your stay, then you can start exploring other places starting from Triveni Ghat which is a conjunction of three holy rivers of India – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. One of the biggest and most famous ghats in Rishikesh, it is also one of the most sacred bathing spots. Triveni Ghat is where the famous Ganga Aarti takes place every evening. You should also visit Laxman jhula, Ram jhula, The Beatles Ashram, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Rajaji national park, Kaudiyala and Shivpuri. Rishikesh also have waterfalls like Patna waterfall, Neer Garh waterfall and Himshail waterfall.

In the end if you want some more adventure then you can do Bungee jumping from India’s highest bungee jumping platform of 117 meters. River rafting is also a great adventure to do in rishikesh on the Ganges river.

Rishikesh is also known for its riverside cafes , so make sure you don’t miss out on them
